Learning about the land around Ireland that is under sea water.
Some of the water (the deep blue part) is sooo deep!
Finding out the best way to catch fish and crabs.
Look at some of the amazing marine life we captured!
When crabs get too big for their shell, they crawl out of the shell leaving the entire shell behind.
Look at this great empty shell. We can even see the gills for breathing and the eye stalks.
Noirín showed us how to tell a male crab from a female crab.
This one is female because she has a big pouch (like the letter U) underneath her shell. That is for holding eggs. Male crabs have a V shape underneath their shells.
We really enjoyed catching and observing marine life.
Noirín let us touch, hold and find out about seaweeds, crabs, shrimps and flatfish.
We saw the squiggles made by sea worms.
We had a competition to see who could build the tallest tower using only things found on the beach.
Noirín had no ruler so we had to use a non-standard unit to check. We used Noirín's leg.
Winners alright! (but there is a certificate for everyone!)
